Welcome!
My name is Nic Hensley

My husband Geoff and I moved to the beautiful North in Whangarei (New Zealand) earlier this year. With our two children having left the nest, we took some time to decide what's next for us. We wanted to bring into our lives all that lightened our hearts and gave us a space to grow mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually to strengthen all that we wanted for the next stage of our lives. We love spending time & learning new things together, the great outdoors, time on the ocean, fishing, time with our close family and friends. We have two funny dogs that entertain us every day with their antics. We are blessed here in the North to have a wonderful community of Havening Practitioners.

I hold a Bachelor of Social Practice in Narrative Counselling (BoSP, 2012). My background is in counselling, social work, community work, mediation, facilitation with programmes such as Strengthening Families, Parenting through Separation, Strengthening Step Families and The Incredible Years. A colleague Darinee Turnwald and I designed and ran an eight week anxiety group for teens we called 'A Step to Freedom'. Both Darinee and I have since trained in havening and have experienced another level of stepping into freedom.

My background in mainly Not-for-Profit community organisations has seen me work with a lot of complex trauma and abuse, and understandably mental health where my passion is in supporting others. I have enjoyed working alongside children, teens, adults and families, couples, enpowering women & supporting people change their behaviours and the belief systems that held them locked into unhealthy behaviours. I have spent some special years in High Schools/Colleges with our youth with an array of concerns from family/friendship relationships, identity, self-esteem, sleep issues, home-life, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, abuse, home situations, self-harm, fear of success/failure and the many issues that can come up for our teens during these years.

Being an adult student, when I began my degree in 2008, created a desire to know and learn more. Like a sponge, I have found learning exciting and I have trained in many different therapies and healing practices. However, the cherry on top, when the pieces of the puzzle came together, was when I trained in the art of Havening with Dr Robin Youngson, with the support of Dr Kamaia Pere. I have found Havening to be the most effective, dignified and respectful way for healing in supporting others. The results I have seen in my own life for myself and for my husband, and clients has changed my practice, and our lives. It has ignited my passion and given me hope for the healing that can be done for individuals, families and our communities.

With havening, you can feel when within when 'truth shines through' and your true self naturally emerges.

Aligning my knowledges throughout the years, I work alongside each person to create a personalised plan for best care & best practice.
